The new 134,623 gsf Richard E. Beaupre Center for Chemical and Forensic Sciences was completed in time for the Fall 2016 semester to begin at the University of Rhode Island’s North Campus. The Beaupre Center houses the chemistry department, along with a federal Center of Excellence for Explosives Detection, Mitigation and Response. The new building also boasts 14 teaching labs and 18 faculty research labs, a 240-seat lecture hall, another smaller lecture hall, and an instrumentation lab.

Replacing Pastore Hall, built in 1953, the new center triples the amount of space for teaching labs — and also greatly expands the space for research laboratories.

The Beaupre Center is a start-of-the-art, energy efficient complement to the College of Nursing, the Center for Biotechnology and Life Sciences, and the College of Pharmacy Building.
