Office Evolution through a Pandemic

July 1, 2020

When we’re all able to safely return to our office, we’re also looking forward to the official opening of our new addition. Crews worked hard for 6 months to add a 3500sf multi-story addition and we had just received the C. of O. and started to receive furniture when our global work situation changed.

When we come back, we’ll be greeted with a series of new workstations with sit-stand capabilities on the second floor and a new a flex/workout space along with a large wellness room in the basement, but the real jewel of the addition is the new entry and collaboration space. We have opened up the back of our existing conference room to the light-filled entry with a new sliding glass partition and added a new, larger meeting space across the atrium.

Featuring multiple large touch screen monitors, our new space will allow three users to simultaneously harness the power of computer-based VR while maintaining a safe distance from each other. Using additional standalone headsets, the room can comfortably accommodate six users with plenty of space to walk around in a collaborative VR environment.

When we don’t have the furniture cleared out for full VR, we’ll also have the ability to set up for team-based collaboration, with room for two huddle pods and a big-room at the same time – all of which can support their own VR users.

When needed, we might decide to turn on the projectors and use the room as a town-hall and presentation space. Oh, and did we mention, you can write on the walls?

This is just the beginning of the potential reconfigurations and uses – our addition just might look different every time you come to visit. We hope to be able to invite you to use our new space, just as soon as it is safe to do so.

Thanks to Mike Scancarello for contributing this piece, and to our friends at Bergmeyer who helped us design the architecture and interiors for the addition!
